The 68th Cannes International Film Festival
The 68th Cannes International Film Festival was held from 13 to 24 May 2015. The Presidents of the Jury for the main competition were Joel and Ethan Coen and the host or the opening and closing ceremonies was French actor Lambert Wilson.
The Palme d’Or was awarded to the French film Dheepan directed by Jacques Audiard. The film was partly inspired by Montesquieu’s Persian Letters.
The festival’s opening film was ‘Standing Tall’, directed by Emmanuelle Bercot and ‘Ice and the Sky’, directed by Luc Jacquet, was the festival’s closing film.
French film director Agnès Varda was presented with the honorary Palme d’Or at the festival’s closing ceremony.
Mad Max: Fury Road was selected to screen out of competition.
