Ultimately Dileep gets conditional bail

After 85 days in jail actor Dileep, accused in the actress assault case, gets bail.After being denied bail four times in the past, Malayalam actor Dileep has finally secured bail from the Kerala High Court on Tuesday. Faced with stiff opposition from the prosecution on granting bail, Dileep’s lawyers had told, the completely cooperated with the probe and any further detention would be ‘unfair and unjust.’ The defense harped on to the point that the investigation had progressed ‘significantly’ and the actor need not be detained for the purpose.

Dileep was arrested on July 10 for his alleged involvement in the conspiracy surrounding the abduction and sexual assault of a woman actor in February this year. Dileep is the eleventh accused in the case. The actor has to present two bail witnesses, and also submit Rs 2 lakhs as bond. He has to surrender his passport as well. The court is reported to have said that there is nothing new to be submitted in the case diary, no new accused or proof. However, the mobile phone with which the actress’ visuals were filmed, is yet to be recovered. However, rumours about Dileep’s alleged involvement in the case began to do rounds. Although the actor vehemently denied that he was involved, he was arrested by the police in July.
