Annie Hall is a 1977 romantic comedy film directed by Woody Allen and script was co-written by Woody Allen and Marshall Brickman. Upon release, the film received widespread critical acclaim, and along with winning the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress.

Now, Annie Hall triumphed over 100 other films to land at number one on the Writers Guild of America’s list of the 101 Funniest Screenplays. voted on by the members which represents film and television writers. Top five: 2. Some Like It Hot (1959), 3. Groundhog Day (1993), 4. Airplane! (1980) and 5. Tootsie (1982). Interestingly, not a single film from the last twenty years is in the top ten.
