Chiranjeevi 1is based on the life of freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, an unsung hero who revolted against the British in 1846. Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy was a freedom fighter born in Uyyalawada, located in the present-day Kurnool district. To be directed by Surendhar Reddy, the film’s story has been penned by Paruchuri Brothers. Ram Charan Teja will be bankrolling Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy under his banner Konidela Production Company and has earmarked a huge budget of Rs. 200 crore for it. The film will be shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil, and later dubbed to Hindi and Malayalam.
Makers have roped in top stars from Hindi, Tamil and Kannada industries. The mega list of cast has Amitabh Bachchan , Vijay Sethupathi, Sudeep and Nayanthara. Supporting cast includes Pragya Jaiswal (as another female leads), Jagapathi Babu, Nassar, Mukesh Rishi, Raghu Babu, Subbaraju, and Ravi Kishan. And for the first time, Oscar winning music director AR Rahman is teaming up with the ‘mega star’ Chiranjeevi. Top costume designer Anju Modi is roped in. Anju Modi worked for Hindi films like Bajirao Mastani and Ram Leela. Chiranjeevi’s elder daughter Sushmitha is also in the team.

Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy was one of the earliest freedom fighters who had 66 villages and an army of 2000 men under his control. His major revolt against British started in 1846, which is 10 years earlier to India’s First War of Independence in 1857 (Sepoy Mutiny). After a major attack on the British forces camped at Giddaluru by Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, on 23 July 1846, British deceptively imprisoned his family. British army arrested him and his followers with the help moles, on 6 October 1846. He was sentenced to death by hanging. On 22 February 1847; Reddy was hanged publicly by the British in Koilkuntla. His head was kept in public view install fear in the people.
