Vijay’s Mersal gears up for Massive release

Mersal is Vijay’s highly anticipated movie of this year. While the team is planning to have a grand release for Diwali, there were two things, ongoing strike in Chennai and interim stay on Mersal title that raised doubts if the film would release as expected! With the High Court judgement being in favor of the Mersal team, which has allowed the makers to retain the title, and the censors certifying it U/A, the film looks all set to hit the screens on October 18 for this Diwali. The Vijay starrer will have 120 fans shows in Kerala alone. It is one of the biggest movie of the year and there is a lot of expectation about the movie. The film directed by Atlee has Vijay playing three different roles while Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha and Nithya Menon play important roles. The movie is expected to have a massive release this Diwali with a record screen count both in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The teaser has become most liked teaser in the world on YouTube beating Ajith Kumar’s Vivegam teaser within no time. Mersal teaser, which was released on Sep 21st at 6 Pm, has broken each and every previous record on YouTube. Unconfirmed state that the film’s overseas rights have been sold for more than Rs. 25 crore, which is the highest ever amount made for a Non-Rajini film. Recently, the screen count of ‘Mersal’ in Kerala was announced and the numbers are huge for a Tamil movie. ‘Mersal’ is expected to release in as many as 350 screens all across the state of Kerala. It is more than the screen count of ‘Vivegam’. The Ajith starrer released in 300 screens which was the highest at that time. But ‘Mersal’ has broke this record quite handsomely with a epic screen count in Kerala. The movie is also expected to have fan shows in over 100 screens which is a first for a Tamil star in the Malayalam state.
