One of the biggest stars of India. Vijay. His growth from a star-child to a successful actor to a mass actor to the top of the industry, was not easy.
Vijay made his debut as lead actor with Naalaiya Theerpu (1992). After the release a popular Tamil Weekly quoted “Do we have to pay and watch a movie with that face”. First breakthrough came with Vikraman’s Poove Unakkaga in 1996. Poove Unakkaga was followed with two more box office success, Nerukku Ner and Kadhalukku Mariyadhai. He was also seen in the super hit Thullatha Manamum Thullum, Kushi, Friends, Badri, Shajahan, Thirumalai, Ghilli, and Pokkiri. He had a tough time at box office during 2008-2011. Since his come back movie, Kavalan directed by Siddhiq, there was no stopping Vijay as he starred in top-grossing movies like Thuppaakki, Kaththi, Theri, and Mersal.
Vijay fumbled, struggled, and survived, faced criticism, encountered politicians and political parties, before reaching the throne.
